    1876 Centennial WOODEN BANDSAW CHAIR w/ Provenance MACHINERY HALL Philadelphia
    This auction is for a very scarce walnut rocking chair documented as being made in Machinery Hall at the 1876 Centennial in Philadelphia.  The rocking chair was cut from a single block of walnut and the original owner signed, dated, and identified it in ink as follows:
    1876 This chair I have seen made on the 30th of Sept at the Centennial Exhibition at Philadelphia in 1876.  E. K. Durk West Earl, PA Lancaster County Brownstown Penn.
    There are other original ink markings including
    Machinery Hall
    on the side, and
    Centennial 1876 Sept 30th 1876
