    Description

Martha Washington was the cover of this fan with the poem on the back about her.  Women were not allowed to display in the main pavilion at the centennial so they erected a "Women's Pavilion" The funding for this effort was handled by the "Women's Centennial Executive Committee" - see Wikipedia.  The leaf is 7-3/4" W x 9-7/8" H and the total fan with the turned, black lacquered stick is 14-1/2" high.   An interesting detail of the Philadelphia
    Centennial
and the development of Women's Rights.
