DESCRIPTION:
This vintage solid brass, hinged New York City water meter valve cover is in wonderful overall vintage condition. It retains its original aged patina and has not been cleaned or polished with a chemical agent or cleaner. The cover has since been mounted on an oak plinth block with a chamfered top edge. It's stamped with ornate graphic iconography and the font is clear and readable. The middle of the brass meter cover has a smooth rectangular plate with the stamp identifying the meter. It's numbered
#1033243.
The brass valve cover has a sturdy brass hinge, protecting it from the elements and designed for the meter cover to last a long time. The cover was manufactured by the
Neptune Meter Company
for the New York City metropolitan area. The model of the meter was the
'Trident
' water meter. The hinged brass cover opens and closes freely and the body is made of sturdy brass. It's without dings, dents or abrasions. What are you using for a paperweight in your office?
