These closed cell foam insulation disks help prevent water meters from freezing in extremely cold weather. Fits tightly in most 18" meter pits or 18" I.D. Pipe. Underground meter boxes are generally designed to be deeper than the frost line so that natural ground heat keeps the meter from freezing. However, if the pit gets full of mud, silt, or dirt, it may no longer provide enough heat. These insulation disks will help keep the ground heated air from contacting the top metal lid and cooling as quickly.
Check for fit:
This disk normally goes under the top frame and lid of a round meter pit. The frame may need to be temporarily removed to install. there should be at least 4" space between the top of the meter and the bottom of the frame. If there is a touch read or radio antenna wire to the top, the wire should be run around the edge, or the disk can be slit toward the center with a sharp knife if the wire is too short. T
